Chapter Philanthropy
Eta Beta participates in the Kappa Kares program, where we vote annually to support a third organization in addition to the Jed Foundation & the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation.
At the beginning of the year, each member is given the opportunity to present to the chapter philanthropies and non-profits they wish to support for our main philanthropy event, Kappa Kappa Gameday. This creates the opportunity to provide aid for pressing and current causes and to help our sisters make a difference in partnership with non-profits close to their hearts.
After much care and consideration, Eta Beta voted to support Made in the Streets for Kappa Kappa Gameday 2025. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Made in the Streets raises awareness of, and holistically serves, street-connected children, working to reintegrate them into nurturing, safe environments. As Philanthropy Chairman for the Eta Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma, I could not be prouder to be part of an organization that chooses to serve and support noble causes such as this.
Contributing to philanthropic causes is a key part of the membership experience at Eta Beta, and I am extremely thankful to be surrounded by a group of women so dedicated to service for three programs within Kappa: The Jed Foundation, the Kappa Kappa Gamma Foundation, and Made in the Streets. I am looking forward to the upcoming fall, when we will again have the opportunity to support another program close to one of our sisters' hearts.
Our main event this past fall, Kappa Kappa Gameday, supported Made in the Streets and The Jed Foundation. Kappa Kappa Gameday is a football-themed competition where other Greek-affiliated members can compete for a greater cause. Not only is this a great community event, but we also raised over $8,000 for our causes this year.
As this was my first time being part of a philanthropy event, I shadowed our previous director and learned what goes into finding success in events like this. Working with all of my sisters in Kappa, as well as the Greek community on campus, was truly a highlight of my junior year. Not only was it a successful event in terms of how much we raised, but it also provided an opportunity for true teamwork and support, underscoring the importance of sisterhood.
Throughout this past academic year, as our chapter worked to support our three main causes, we were constantly reminded that Eta Beta Kappa’s participants in philanthropy are committed to improving the lives of others and effecting positive change.
